Why choose us? Because I want you as a Customer for Life. Hello, I’m Jim Dickerson and welcome to our website. I’ve built my business over the last 32 years by treating customers in an honest and fair manner, and today we have thousands of satisfied customers in the Charlotte area that use us over and over again because they know when we show up at their house or jobsite, we have their best interests at heart.
With so many of today’s service companies trying to sell and up-sell new products to maximize profits, we’re still known as the “Repair Specialists.” Why? Because we send out plumbers and electricians, not salespeople. Our employees are trained to always try to repair whatever a customer is having a problem with, and if that’s not possible, then we’ll recommend a quality replacement.
Feel free to look around our site to learn more about us, and please give us a call. We would be glad to discuss any plumbing or electrical needs you may have, and we look forward to having you as a Customer for Life too.
Jim Dickerson Plumbing and Electrical provides all types of Residential and Commercial plumbing service and repairs including the following:
Water Heaters: If your water heater is over five or six years old, it is probably out of warranty. After ten years, it is on borrowed time. Many older water heaters are not energy efficient. Since water heating is the second largest energy user next to heating and cooling, an energy efficient model can save you money every month on your fuel bills. We install all sizes of residential and commercial, natural gas and electric water heaters.
Backflow Preventers: Many municipalities are requiring backflow preventers (backflows) to keep the water supply clean. We can install and service backflows. After a backflow has been installed, it must be inspected to make sure it is functioning properly and then it must be re-inspected annually. We are licensed to certify backflows.
Camera: Many times we need to know where a problem lies within a line. To save wasted labor, time, and disturbance to the area we can send a camera through the lines. This helps pinpoint the problem, saving unnecessary digging/jackhammering.
Jetting: Commercial properties tend to get buildup in the sewer lines due to the large volume of raw sewage. To help alleviate any problems with stoppages from blocked lines, we can use a high-pressure jetter to flush the system on a regular basis. This is especially beneficial for condominiums and apartments to keep the sewer lines cleaner.
Slab Leaks: A slab leak occurs when hot or cold water pipes beneath the home start leaking. The pipes can start leaking for many reasons – the pipes are old, the chemistry of the water supply, faulty installation, etc. When a slab leak occurs, we locate the leaking pipe using an electronic leak detector. Then access to the pipe is made through the floor to repair the pipe. When the repair is not feasible due to being located beneath a cabinet or tub, we can re-route the plumbing or re-pipe the house.
Jim Dickerson Plumbing and Electrical is a family owned and operated company serving the Charlotte and surrounding areas. Jim, a Charlotte native, learned the plumbing trade from his father-in-law, Chester H. Creed, and worked with him for many years before starting his own company.
Jim, along with his wife Judy, formed Jim Dickerson Plumbing in 1977. What began as a one truck operation has grown steadily over the years, and today we have a fleet of over 20 service vans. In 2005, we moved to our current 11,000 square foot location. This facility includes a 7,000 square foot warehouse that allows us to stock many commonly used parts, water heaters, and fixtures which helps us in providing prompt service.
Jim’s daughters, Debbie and Angie, decided after college to join the company and they currently manage the day-to-day operations of the office, including Customer Service, Sales and Marketing, and Accounting.
